Ground was broken on the current 57-acre site of Vista Health located at 10301 Mayo Dr . in Fort Smith , Arkansas , in July, 1983. The doors of Harborview Hospital opened for business in September of 1984. The facility was originally part of the St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center. www.stedwardmercy.com In June of 2003, Texarkana Behavioral Associates purchased Harborview Hospital from St. Edwards Mercy Medical System and named the Hospital Vista Health-Fort Smith. The majority senior management team, Medical and Professional staff has been with the facility for years, and were retained in the acquisition and continue in place today. The 57 bed hospital treats mostly children & adolescents but do provide treatment to some adults as well.
